BLACKPINK’s uncertain future: will Lisa’s rumored $50 billion contract renewal happen?

Amid speculations about a $50 billion won (KRW) contract offer to Lisa, the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK (comprising Jisoo, Rosé, Jennie, and Lisa) is at the end of their ‘seven-year jinx,’ a term often used in the Korean entertainment industry to describe a critical point for many groups when contracts typically expire. Yet, there has been little news regarding their renewal with YG Entertainment (YG). Whether the group will continue to collaborate with YG remains an unanswered question, keeping fans and industry insiders on high alert.

Uncertainty looms over BLACKPINK’s future as their contract expiration approaches. Currently, they are wrapping up their world tour with a final concert in Gocheok Dome on September 16 and 17. Some reports even suggest this could be their last performance as a group. Moreover, questions about Lisa’s contract renewal have been circulating, especially after she reportedly received multi-million dollar offers from foreign agencies. Rumor has it that she has declined two renewal offers from YG, one of which was said to be around $50 billion won (KRW) .

Rosé sent waves of cheer during a concert in Singapore, reassuring fans by stating, “BLACKPINK isn’t going anywhere.” On the flip side, Jennie created a stir by mentioning that the upcoming performance could be the “last,” stirring speculations.

The renegotiation between YG and BLACKPINK is ongoing, and the result will significantly impact not only the members but the global K-pop industry as a whole.
