Byun Woo-seok has completely transformed into a ‘dark charisma’ villain in ‘Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon,’ stimulating viewers’ tension.
In the 4th episode of the JTBC weekend drama ‘Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon’ (written by Baek Mi-kyung, directed by Kim Jung-sik, Lee Kyung-sik), which aired on the 15th, Ryu Si-oh (played by Byun Woo-seok) made it clear that he was the main villain of the drama, along with his ambitious plan regarding the e-commerce distribution company and his relationship with Kang Nam-soon (played by Lee Yoo-mi).
In the previous episode, he displayed a troubled expression upon seeing Kang Nam-soon preventing an airplane accident and hinted at his involvement in drug manufacturing and distribution. On this day, Ryu Si-oh, as the representative of DuGo, stepped up in front of the investors, announcing business expansion while showing a resolute determination to get what he wanted. He raised the immersion of the drama in an instant with a fierce gaze and a wicked smile. Moreover, when he muttered, “Thinking about her…,” while reminiscing about Kang Nam-soon, he provided dramatic tension with a gloomy expression.
Byun Woo-seok’s successful transformation, completely different from his previous work, was enough to capture viewers’ attention. Even as the first villain, he naturally embodied the chilling aura of the villain Ryu Si-oh, raising the dramatic tension. Additionally, the new face, which is enhanced with ‘dark sexy’ charm, has garnered enthusiastic responses. The appearance of Ryu Sio, who manages the most powerful synthetic drugs ever, has brought about a change, and attention is focused on how he will affect the fierce showdown between the mother-daughter heroes, as well as the passionate detective Kang Hee-shik.
Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon is an ongoing South Korean television series starring Lee Yoo-mi in the title role, along with Kim Jung-eun, Kim Hae-sook, Ong Seong-wu, and Byeon Woo-seok. The series serves as a spin-off to the 2017 series Strong Girl Bong-soon. It premiered on JTBC on October 7, 2023, airing every Saturday and Sunday at 10.30pm (KST).
