JYP’s new girl group VCHA tops worldwide trends with ‘Y.O.Universe’ MV

JYP Entertainment’s rookie girl group, VCHA, which consists of members Lexi, KG, Camila, Savana, Keily, and Kendal, has conquered the YouTube worldwide trending chart, securing the number 1 spot with their pre-debut single title track, ‘Y.O.Universe’.

‘Y.O.Universe’ music video surpassed 1.71 million views and topped YouTube’s global trending. The video also ranked within the top 10 in multiple regions, including the 5th in the US, 7th in Brazil, and 8th in Canada, and entered the charts in 33 global areas.

VCHA is the product of a collaborative global girl group project titled ‘A2K’ (America2Korea) between JYP and Republic Records. On the 22nd, the ‘A2K’ series concluded with 22 episodes. To celebrate, the pre-debut single ‘SeVit (NEW LIGHT)’ and the title track ‘Y.O.Universe’ were released simultaneously worldwide.

On the same day, the final episode of ‘A2K’ was trending 6th in US, following VCHA’s first stage appearance on KBS 2TV ‘Music Bank’ ranking 11th, indicating immense global interest from their very first steps.

‘Y.O.Universe’ is an upbeat pop song that encapsulates the ‘A2K’ series and the narrative of the girls, conveying the message, “We are all unique and special”. The song saw the participation of renowned artists, including JYP’s Park Jin-young and the producer of Sam Smith’s ‘Unholy’ Grammy-winning song, Cirkut. The music video vividly portrays the autobiographical stories and aspirations of the six VCHA members.

The pre-debut single ‘SeVit (NEW LIGHT)’ has strong coherence with the group’s name and signifies ‘a new light’. The single album features three tracks, including the title track ‘Y.O.Universe’, ‘Go Getter’, and ‘Know Me Like That’, all unveiled during the final rounds of ‘A2K’, capturing the voices of all six members.

Earlier in July, JYP initiated the massive project ‘A2K’ through their official YouTube channel. It was North America’s first K-pop training system. Under the aim of globally launching a girl group, JYP’s head, Park Jin-young, undertook auditions in major US cities like Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Dallas, and LA. He mentored participants, fostering their growth and development.

JYP, known for producing acclaimed girl groups like Wonder Girls, Miss A, TWICE, ITZY, NiziU, and NMIXX, is expected to script yet another monumental chapter in the global pop market with VCHA’s emergence.

Significantly, VCHA, under JYP USA, collaborates extensively with Universal Music’s top-ranked label in the US, Republic Records. They are ambitiously projected to burgeon as ‘Global K-pop Artists’, focusing primarily on the US market. Their strategic global penetration and localization in the North American market are highly anticipated.
