New Zealand Governor-General visits SM Headquarters…”Possibility of collaboration between Maori Kapa haka artistes and K-Pop”

Dame Cindy Kiro, the Governor-General of New Zealand, visited SM Entertainment’s headquarters in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on 25th July, according to SM Entertainment.

Known for her interest in K-pop and Korean dramas, Governor-General Kiro toured the recording studio and dance practice rooms at SM headquarters on that day and also directly observed Song Camp, where K-pop music is created.

During the subsequent meeting, Governor-General Kiro mentioned, “There are performances of Kapa haka, a traditional Maori dance, in New Zealand. It would be nice to discuss the possibility of collaboration between Maori Kapa haka artistes and SM.” SM Entertainment reported.

Kapa haka is a traditional comprehensive performance art of New Zealand, including dance, song, and rituals.

Governor-General Kiro visited South Korea as a member of the government delegation of UN sending nations to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the armistice and UN Forces Participation Day.
