NewJeans’ debut song “Cookie” surpassed 200 million streams on Spotify.

According to Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, on the 26th, ‘Cookie’, one of the triple title songs of NewJeans‘ debut album “NewJeans”, sold 264,197 as of the 24th. This is NEWJEANS’ sixth song to reach 200 million streams.

“Cookie”, released in August 2022, is an impressive song with a lively sound and cute lyrics based on a minimal hip-hop beat. The New York Times selected this song as one of the “Best Songs of 2022” and said, “‘Cookie’ is not too much. It was praised as “a song where comfort is the most noticeable.”

NewJeans’ songs, which are loved equally regardless of whether they are new or previous, are steadily increasing the number of plays on Spotify. NewJeans has produced a total of 10 Spotify streaming songs worth hundreds of millions of dollars so far. “OMG” and “Ditto” each exceeded 500 million views, “Super Shy” and “Hype Boy” exceeded 400 million views each, “Attention” exceeded 300 million views, “Cookie” exceeded 200 million views, and “Hurt” exceeded 200 million views. “NewJeans”, “ETA”, and “Cool With You” were each streamed over 100 million times. The combined cumulative number of streaming times on Spotify for all songs released by NewJeans so far is approximately 3.5 billion.

Meanwhile, NewJeans will win the “Group of the Year Award” at the “2024 Billboard Women In Music Awards” to be held on March 6 (local time). The “Billboard Women in Music Awards” is an awards ceremony that selects and awards the best female artists, creators, producers, and executives who have had a significant impact on the music industry in the year, and NewJeans is the first K-pop female artist to win at this awards ceremony.
