Actor Park Seo-joon has revealed the reason for not doing romantic comedies (rom-coms) lately.
Park Seo-joon rose to fame as a rom-com king through dramas like ‘Witch’s Love,’ ‘She Was Pretty,’ ‘Fight for My Way,’ and ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.’ However, he has been consistently showcasing various genres since then. As a result, fans who loved his rom-com roles are expressing their disappointment.
In a recent interview, Park Seo-joon expressed his desire for genre changes.
On this day, Park Seo-joon stated, “I’ve done a lot of rom-coms so far, but I’ve been continuously pursuing works in different genres because I want to bring about a genre change. I don’t want to miss out on the fun of that change.” He added, “‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ was where I started this challenge, and I haven’t chosen a rom-com since then. I think I’ll continue this way in the future.”
He emphasized, “Of course, I still like rom-coms, but I consider it a challenging genre. It’s not that I won’t do it; I just have a strong desire to do other things.”
Furthermore, Park Seo-joon mentioned, “In the movie ‘Concrete Utopia’ and the Netflix series ‘Gyeongseong Creature,’ I’m exploring different genres. I don’t know what’s next, but I plan to keep selecting interesting projects. Even though I say this, if I come across a good rom-com, I might consider it.” He left room for possibilities.
Meanwhile, Park Seo-joon’s comeback film ‘Concrete Utopia’ is a disaster drama set in a post-apocalyptic Seoul, where survivors gather at the last standing Hwanggung Apartment complex after a massive earthquake. The film is currently receiving a great response in theaters.
