MC Mong will undergo a “video witness examination,” marking an unprecedented decision

MC Mong will undergo a “video witness examination,” marking an unprecedented decision.

According to legal sources on the 1st, MC Mong’s video witness examination has been decided to conduct by the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Presiding Judge Jeong Do-seong) on the scheduled date of the 2nd, amidst the trial of the defendants including professional golfer Ahn Sung-hyun, former Bithumb Holdings CEO Lee Sang-jun, and Kang Jong-hyun, who was suspected of being the real owner of Bithumb. MC Mong will attend the examination at the Seoul Eastern District Court, which will be broadcasted live.

Initially, the court considered him a key witness in this case and repeatedly demanded his attendance. However, despite receiving summonses three times on December 26th and January 17th, and February 14th last year, MC Mong did not comply, resulting in a fine of 3 million KRW.

At the time, he argued, “I silently pursue my music career, having no direct involvement in this case. I submitted a petition to the court. Having undergone a three-year trial for past military service corruption, I have suffered from courtroom trauma and accepted the fine.”

In reality, MC Mong submitted a petition requesting a video witness examination, citing difficulties in attending due to social anxiety disorder and panic disorder. In response, the court granted an unprecedented approval for the request.
