The momentum of success for “The Roundup: Punishment”, which surpassed 1 million viewers in just one day after its release, is remarkable as it dominates the box office.

“The Roundup: Punishment”, which was released on the 24th, gathered a cumulative audience of 1,335,678 in just two days. The film received 821,618 viewers on its opening day and 473,060 on the second day. This pace is faster than the previous installments of the series, “The Roundup” and “The Roundup: No Way Out”, both of which surpassed 10 million viewers.

“The Roundup”, released on May 18, 2022, garnered 467,483 viewers on its first day, a Wednesday, and 366,223 viewers on the second day. Over the following weekend (Saturday and Sunday), it attracted a total of 2,018,825 viewers, accumulating 3,556,657 viewers in its first week.

Similarly, “The Roundup: No Way Out”, which premiered on May 31 last year, attracted 748,844 viewers on its first day and 479,910 on the second day. Over the subsequent weekend, it drew 2,234,717 viewers, accumulating 4,510,223 viewers in its first week.

Given that both films attracted over 2 million viewers during the weekend alone, there is an atmosphere in the film industry that “The Roundup: Punishment”, with a faster pace than its predecessors, will also surpass 3 million viewers in its first week.

Moreover, the fact that there are no notable competing films in theaters, aside from “Kung Fu Panda 4”, is accelerating the concentration of viewers towards “The Roundup: Punishment”. As of 2 p.m. (KST) on the 26th, the reservation rate for “The Roundup: Punishment” has exceeded 94%, indicating a potential for the film to surpass 4 million viewers over the weekend.

If “The Roundup: Punishment” surpasses 10 million viewers, it will achieve the unprecedented title of “Triple 10 Million” in Korean film history.

Starting with the honor of being invited to the Special Gala section of the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in February, “The Roundup: Punishment” secured its position as a crime action entertainment franchise movie representing South Korea, with pre-sales in 164 countries worldwide before its release.
