Nam Tae-hyun and Seo Eun-woo sentenced to probation for using Philopon.

Former WINNER Nam Tae-hyun and influencer Seo Eun-woo (formerly Seo Min-jae), who were indicted on charges of using Philopon, were sentenced to probation in the first trial.

On the morning of the 18th, Judge Jeong Cheol-min of the 7th Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Nam Tae-hyun, who is accused of violating the Narcotics Control Act, to one year in prison and two years of probation. Seo Min-jae was sentenced to 10 months in prison and two years of probation. He also ordered him to undergo probation and take 40 hours of drug treatment classes.

On this day, the court said, “The defendants are people who have a lot of influence on their fans and the public, and committed crimes even though they should set an example to society.”

“It is advantageous that the defendants not only pledged not to use drugs again, but also that their family and acquaintances are hoping for leniency. It was judged to be normal.”

Nam Tae-hyun and Seo Eun-woo were indicted without detention on charges of taking Philopon together at Seo Eun-woo’s home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul in August 2022. At that time, Seo Eun-woo posted and deleted a post on her SNS alleging Nam Tae-hyun’s drug use, assault, and syringe evidence. Nam Tae-hyun was also accused of taking Philopon alone while overseas in December of the same year.

In the previous trial, the prosecution sought 2 years in prison for Nam Tae-hyun and 1 year and 6 months in prison for Seo Eun-woo. The two admitted to drug use and asked for leniency.

Meanwhile, Nam Tae-hyun debuted as a member of WINNER in 2014. After he left the group in 2016, he formed the band South Club and has been working as a singer-songwriter. In addition to drug charges, he caused controversy again for drunk driving in March of last year and is currently in self-reflection. Seo Eun-woo attracted attention by appearing on Channel A’s dating entertainment show “Heart Signal 3” in 2020.
