Coachella 2024: Mixed reviews for LESSERAFIM’s performance at at the famous music festival in the United States

Mixed reviews for LESSERAFIM’s performance at Coachella

LESSERAFIM performed a spectacular stage at a famous music festival in the United States, but criticism about their lack of skills has surfaced.

LESSERAFIM took the stage at the “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival” on April 13 (local time), one of the largest music festivals in the U.S., but faced criticism for their performance.

They prepared an unreleased song “1-800-hot-n-fun” and invited renowned American musician Nile Rodgers as a guest for their title song “UNFORGIVEN”, showing exceptional determination for their Coachella stage. However, their inadequate vocal skills held them back.

Immediately after their performance video was released online, opinions criticizing their skills emerged. While there’s no dispute about their performance abilities, reviews criticizing their live singing dominate.

One netizen from ID Boss commented on their performance, saying, “Congratulations on entering Coachella in the shortest period, but it was definitely a stage with lacking vocal ability.”

Continuing, they expressed disappointment, stating, “Until the middle of the stage, the non-stop dancing was commendable, but it completely fell apart from the ‘smart’ song part. This is a fundamental issue coming from a team created hastily by a large corporation like HYBE, focusing on visual and performance.”

The Coachella festival’s comparison between BLACKPINK and LESSERAFIM is being discussed, noting that BLACKPINK received industry praise for their debut stage in 2019 as the first K-pop girl group to enter Coachella.

Some netizens highlighted that if they had built more skills on world tours like BLACKPINK before performing, such a disaster might have been avoided.

Under their agency HYBE, SOS Music issued a press release on the 15th stating, “LESSERAFIM successfully completed their Coachella debut stage,” adding, “Audiences cheered enthusiastically and enjoyed the performance.”
