Lee Sun-kyun tests ‘negative’ in preliminary drug test, detailed results expected in ‘1 month’

Actor Lee Sun-kyun, who was summoned by the police on charges of ‘drug use,’ is reported to have received a ‘negative’ result in the preliminary reagent test.

However, the precise examination is expected to take some time.

On the 29th, the Incheon Provincial Police Agency’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Team revealed that actor Lee Sun-kyun, who is facing charges of marijuana and psychoactive drug use under the Narcotics Control Act, received a ‘negative’ result in the preliminary reagent test.

Lee Sun-kyun refused to provide a statement regarding the drug use allegations during the police investigation and returned home after approximately one hour of questioning.

The police obtained a search warrant from the court and conducted a preliminary reagent test by collecting Lee Sun-kyun’s urine. It was confirmed that he tested ‘negative’ in the preliminary test.

It is known that the preliminary reagent test shows a reaction if drugs were used within 5 to 10 days, but no reaction is observed for use prior to that period.

To confirm the exact drug use status, the police collected urine and hair samples and entrusted them to the National Forensic Service for analysis.

A police official stated, “We have requested a detailed examination from the National Forensic Service,” adding, “The results are expected to take about one month.”

The police also obtained a search warrant from the court and seized Lee Sun-kyun’s mobile phone and vehicle. They plan to conduct forensic analysis of Lee Sun-kyun’s mobile phone to secure concrete evidence related to the alleged offense.

Meanwhile, Lee Sun-kyun attended the Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station the day before and stated, “First of all, I sincerely apologize for being involved in such an unfortunate incident and causing disappointment to many people. I’m sorry.” He also said, “Above all, I apologize once again to everyone who has trusted and supported me all this time.”

Furthermore, he stated, “As I conveyed through my agency, my stance to cooperate sincerely with the investigation in a truthful manner remains unchanged,” and emphasized, “And at this moment, I feel sorry for the families who are enduring such difficult pain. Once again, I sincerely apologize to everyone.”

Lee Sun-kyun has been facing allegations of using drugs from early this year until recently, allegedly using narcotics at entertainment establishments in Gangnam, Seoul. The police are currently conducting an investigation into the entertainment establishment-related drug case involving Lee Sun-kyun and a total of 10 individuals, including singer G-Dragon.

Entertainment establishment owner Mr. A has been arrested on charges of psychoactive drug use, and a doctor and entertainment establishment staff have each been booked on charges of drug supply and use. Mr. A also faces charges of threatening Lee Sun-kyun and extorting 35 million KRW (approx. 29,000 USD) from him.

In addition to this, the police are also investigating five individuals, including Hwang Hana, the granddaughter of the founder of Namyang Dairy, and Han Seo-hee, a former trainee singer.
