Sandara Park: “A younger male top star confessed to me during my rookie days… I had my phone taken away because of the rumors involving GD”

On the episode of JTBC’s “Jjangdangpo” that aired on the 18th, Chae Rin A, Narsha, Sandara Park, and ITZY’s Chaeryeong made appearances. They visited “Jjangdangpo” to retrieve their items and share interesting stories related to them. The show also featured a hit song dance medley and episodes about girl groups from different generations.

Sandara Park brought a flip phone that she used in 2009 as collateral. She revealed, “It was the phone I used when 2NE1 was active as models. I had it taken away by the boss but then got it back.” She continued, “It was because of Kwon Jiyong (G-Dragon) that the boss took it away from me.”

Sandara Park said, “After our debut, we became popular, and I received many calls from various places. I couldn’t hide it from the boss. Even when men contacted me, I ignored them. I didn’t reply to messages or answer calls. There was one man who was upset and complained to G-Dragon, saying, ‘I can’t contact Dara noona.'” She added that G-Dragon felt happy upon hearing the complaint. He was proud to witness the popularity of Sandara Park, who was from the same agency.

Sandara Park said, “We were the first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment, and we were proud of that. However, a person spread rumors, saying that our noona (referring to herself) broke up with someone like that. The rumor spread within the company. It even reached the boss’s ears, and he thought, ‘These girls are contacting guys.’ That’s why he took my phone away.” When MC Hong Jin-kyung asked if she lived without a phone during that time, Sandara Park replied, “I lived without a phone for several months.” When Hong Jin-kyung mentioned that G-Dragon must have felt sorry, Sandara Park laughed and said, “I don’t think he felt sorry.”

Sandara Park expressed gratitude, saying, “Although we are seniors, we were a junior group that debuted under Big Bang. That’s why G-Dragon took great care of us.” She added, “From finding stylists to choosing our own outfits, he even gave us advice on our performances. He was interested in us to that extent, even caring about what people said behind our backs.”
