Shownu X Hyungwon, an 8-year wait; “As Monsta X’s unit, we will showcase more synergy”

Monsta X‘s Shownu and Hyungwon embarked on a new challenge as a unit after 8 years since their debut. They revealed that the album production was not difficult since they know each other’s strengths well. Shownu and Hyungwon expressed their intention to showcase restrained sexiness along with dazzling performances. Ahead of the release of their first mini-album ‘UN SEEN’ on the 25th, they had a face-to-face interview with TEN Asia.

Shownu shared, “It’s been 8 years since we became a unit. In a way, it can be considered a debut. We prepared with a sense of tension. Three members have already shown their good sides through solo activities. Thinking about how to show even better sides, we came out as a unit.”

He added, “There is nothing regrettable about coming out as a unit. I think it would have been more burdensome and difficult if we were doing solo activities. As a unit, we can show better synergy,” expressing his aspirations.

Hyungwon also said, “Although the name is Shownu X Hyungwon, it also carries Monsta X’s name. I’m excited to show fans a new side. We have many similarities in what we pursue, which is why we came out as a unit. I think we are members who excel in performances, and we have strengths in that area.”

He continued, “There were no clashes during the preparation process with Shownu hyung. Of course, it wasn’t always smooth sailing, especially during album work. But it was good. The process had to be challenging for the results to be good. We had many adjustments in choreography and song titles. We could have given up, but both the company and ourselves wanted to do better, and I think we felt the ambition to improve.”
