SM Entertainment’s idol groups Red Velvet and aespa share a unique bond of friendship

On the 23rd, the ‘SM Town Live 2023 SMCU Palace Jakarta’ was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, featuring SM Entertainment artists, including Red Velvet and aespa. Despite Irene‘s condition not being at its best, she took to the stage and delivered a performance.

Before the performance, SM Entertainment announced that Irene would be unable to participate in the event due to her poor condition. SM Entertainment expressed their apologies, stating, “We apologize for the sudden news, and this decision was unavoidable for Irene’s condition recovery and adequate rest. We ask for your understanding.”

However, Irene joined her fellow members on stage for the actual performance.

Joy expressed, “Even though Irene wasn’t feeling well, she wanted to see our Jakarta fans, so she joined us on stage.” This showcased Irene’s strong determination.

During the performance, there were moments captured where aespa’s Karina appeared to be concerned about Irene. Karina reached out her hand to Irene and seemed to ask a brief question. Irene nodded, and Karina expressed her support with a worried expression.

Though it was a brief moment, the exchange of support and care between senior and junior girl groups resonated with fans, who responded enthusiastically.

Last month, an SM Entertainment representative announced that Red Velvet’s Seulgi had renewed her contract. Fans are eagerly awaiting news about the contract renewals of the remaining members. Red Velvet is said to be preparing for a comeback and is expected to release a full album in November, marking their return after six years, much to the excitement of their fans.
