Thunder and Mimi to tie the knot on May 26th

Former member of the boy group MBLAQ, Thunder, and former member of the girl group Gugudan, Mimi, have shared an unwavering love for a long time.

Through their journey, Thunder and Mimi developed the conviction to spend their lives together in happiness. As a result, the two will tie the knot on May 26th in a ceremony filled with blessings.

Recently, the couple shared updates on their lives and love story through Star News. They also revealed their plans for the future as a married couple. Currently, they are busy with wedding preparations.

Mimi stated, “Both of us have dreamed of marriage, so we are preparing with excitement. Recently, we even had a wedding photoshoot in Bali. Through wedding preparations, we have had many new experiences and enjoyable busy days.”

Their first encounter took place at a pork belly restaurant. Thunder recalled, “It wasn’t a setup or anything like that, we were just having a casual meal with friends.” He added, “I had allergies, so I was hesitant to attend and arrived late, but Mimi was there, and coincidentally, I ended up sitting in front of her.”

Thunder vividly remembers that moment. He shared, “What’s strange is that I still remember Mimi’s attire and expression vividly. Normally, I’m not good at remembering what friends wore or did on a particular day, but Mimi’s first appearance remains fresh in my memory even after five years.”

The two crossed paths again at a gaming gathering.

Mimi said, “We met once a week for gaming gatherings, watching movies together, having meals, and playing games. Over six months, we grew closer like older brother and younger sister. Then, one day, Thunder suddenly suggested watching a movie together. After that, he confessed his feelings, and we started dating.”

They gradually became attracted to each other and fell in love. Thunder expressed, “I still don’t know why I like Mimi. The excitement came suddenly, and it remains the same to this day.”

He added, “Since there was no specific reason for falling in love, I don’t think there’s a reason to fall out of love. For example, if I liked Mimi because of her thoughtfulness, I might be disappointed if she stopped being considerate. However, since there’s no specific reason, regardless of what Mimi does or how she changes in the future, her existence itself is good.”

Thunder also revealed his romantic proposal to Mimi. During their trip to Japan last December, he proposed. Thunder shared behind-the-scenes details of the proposal, saying, “I had to know Mimi’s ring size for the proposal, so we went ring shopping together. But Mimi’s fingers are so slender that even the smallest size was too big. Since we had to order a custom size, I made an excuse about stock shortages and secretly bought the ring, planning to purchase it in January. Throughout our trip to Japan, I was nervous that Mimi would notice, but I managed to keep it a secret.”

Mimi didn’t expect Thunder’s proposal.

She confessed, “We had a proposal during ‘Second House,’ so I thought that was the real proposal. I never imagined that Thunder was preparing another proposal. We had never traveled overseas in our five years together. However, Thunder planned a trip to Japan for Christmas, arranging everything from airplane tickets to accommodation by himself. That alone was touching, but the thought of him hiding the ring from afar made it even more moving. Receiving the proposal on December 25th, Christmas Day, will remain a memorable day for me.”

The couple’s wedding preparations are progressing steadily. The wedding officiant will be actor Choi Soo-jong, while the emcee will be Cheondung’s fellow MBLAQ member, Lee Joon. Thunder said, “Since the wedding date is still some time away, we are taking our time to create the invitations. We haven’t decided on the details of the ceremony and program yet, except for the officiant and emcee. We will announce them once they are finalized.”

Thunder and Mimi expressed their desire to be a happy couple. Thunder said, “I realized that growing old together is an incomparable happiness in the world after meeting Mimi. I want us to become a couple who, like now, remain youthful in love and age together.”

Mimi added, “I just hope we remain as steady as we are now. We’ve been consistent throughout the five years we’ve been together. I hope we continue to find happiness even in small things in the future.”

They also shared their plans for having children.

Mimi said, “First, we want to enjoy our newlywed life. Through the two trips we took recently, I learned the joy of traveling. I hope we can see many beautiful places, enjoy delicious food, and learn a lot together. When we feel more prepared, it would be great to have a beautiful child.” Thunder stated, “When we are ready, I want to have a daughter, who resembles Mimi, and a son.”

After marriage, they will also be active as a couple. They have formed a group called “Cattriever” and are actively promoting it.

Thunder explained, “Cattriever is a group with a base in hip-hop. Our future music will combine various genres with hip-hop. We aim to be a group that delivers good music for a long time, rather than a one-time duet.”

Their debut song as Cattriever, “Sunflower,” was released on January 21st. Thunder described the song as “a heartfelt song written, composed, arranged, and produced by us, expressing our sincere feelings for each other.” He added, “Please listen to ‘Sunflower’ a lot and give Cattriever a lot of love in the future.”

As former idols, they have made a comeback with Cattriever.

Thunder shared, “I never dreamed of returning to idol activities. Although I didn’t have any regrets about my idol career, I thought I would only pursue hip-hop as a genre. However, since Mimi and I decided to start activities in an idol format again, I am very happy. We will show our activities as Cat River and through solo albums, we will deliver good music.”

Mimi expressed, “I always felt hungry as a singer. That’s why I never stopped releasing digital singles and participating in OSTs. However, now that I am starting music activities again with Thunder, I feel excited, thinking back to when I debuted.”

Additionally, Cheondung stated, “We plan to consistently deliver good music as  Cattriever, and we are also planning to appear on music shows for our next comeback. I want to create opportunities to meet fans as soon as possible this year.”

Finally, they expressed their gratitude to the fans who have supported them. Thunder and Mimi said, “Thank you so much for always waiting for us, supporting us, and saying that you will continue to support us. It really gives us strength. We also want to become singers who give strength to you. We will create opportunities to meet you soon, so please wait a little longer. We hope you always stay healthy and have only happy things in your life.”
