Will ‘Doctor Slump’ be a box office success with the perfect chemistry between Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik, who reunited 11 years after ‘The Heirs’?

JTBC’s new drama “Doctor Slump” held an online production presentation at 2pm on the 25th. Director Oh Hyun-jong, Park Shin-hye, Park Hyeong-sik, Yoon Park, and Gong Seong-ha attended the scene.

“Doctor Slump” is a romantic comedy depicting the cardiopulmonary resuscitation of Nam Ha-neul (played by Park Shin-hye) and Yeo Yeong-woo (played by Park Hyeong-sik), who hit the brakes on their ‘ruined lives’ after running on an upward curve in their lives.

Director Oh Hyeon-jong, who showed sensuous and detailed directing in “Find Me In Your Memory” and “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo”, and writer Baek Seon-woo, who was well-received for his witty writing skills in “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim”, have teamed up.

In particular, “Doctor Slump” attracted attention as it was a work in which Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik reunited 11 years after “The Heirs”.

First of all, on this day, director Oh Hyeon-jong said, “When I first saw the script, I felt sorry and felt pity. People who work as doctors have worked hard, but they do not admit that they are sick, and their families say that there is no way they can do that. It is said that they live fiercely today, but endure it. “I felt pity for it and wanted to direct it in a warm way.”

He continued, “All of the characters are doctors by profession, and although they practice medicine, the person who advised them about the mental illness they suffer from said that mental illness is like a medal and cannot be cured when it is not revealed, and that mental illness can be healed when we share it with each other. “I wanted to tell a story of growth,” he said. “I am very interested in character narratives, and I thought that I, too, needed to grow as a human being with shortcomings. I thought ‘Doctor Slump’ was a story we could share together and a story I could excel at.”

Park Shin-hye said, “I wanted to show what I do best. I had done genre work in my previous work, so I was worried about what the next chapter should be. I sympathized with the character. When choosing a work, I wanted to make sure that my surroundings and friends could see it comfortably.” A certain standard was set, and Hae-neul suffered from burnout and depression, and although it seemed like she had to overcome it in a great way, I also saw happiness overcome through small and trivial joys. If I played Ha-neul, I was able to overcome it well.”

Next, Park Shin-hye said about her thoughts on her first drama comeback after marriage, “I don’t think anything has changed much while facing this work, perhaps because my mindset toward work has always been the same. I had fun filming it and relied a lot on Park Hyeong-sik. He is an actor with a lot of sense. Not much has changed, just the environment around me has changed.”

On this day, Park Shin-hye said, “‘Doctors’ was about Hye-jeong’s growth period as she tried to uncover a medical accident after the death of her beloved grandmother. There were a lot of surgery scenes and she was resentful as a neurosurgeon. In ‘Doctor Slump’, she lived while living up to her family’s expectations by studying. “It’s a growth period where a friend falls to the bottom due to burnout and loses track of what he or she likes and wants to do, but finds it through family, friends, and colleagues, and he appears as an anesthesiologist.”

Park Shin-hye said, “They both wear school uniforms. I thought they would appear for about 1-2 minutes in the flashback scene, but they were needed more than I thought. I wore school uniforms for quite a long time while filming, so I was worried about whether it would be okay.” Park Hyung-sik also added, “I feel like I’m sinning for no reason,” and Park Shin-hye said, “I asked the ages of the minor actors on set, and they were either just graduating from high school or currently in high school, so I thought I should stop wearing school uniforms now.”

Park Shin-hye said, “In ‘The Heirs’, other than group scenes, we didn’t have many scenes where we met each other. We got off the plane and filmed and went to a variety show. I thought that she was an amazing friend because she had a huge schedule. Her quick wits were also amazing. Inside the tambourine called Park Hyeong-sik, Park Shin-hye said, “It felt like it was bouncing. It felt like it was moving according to the people moving when riding a disco poppin,” he praised.

Next, Park Hyeong-sik said about the title of a romantic comedy master, “I don’t know if there is a secret. Because I enjoy working with the other actor, when an idea comes to me, I try it and accept it well, which helps me gain confidence,” and said that it seems that collaboration with the other actor is important. Since she met Park Shin-hye as an acquaintance, there was no need for us to get to know her. “It was nice to have fun filming right away.”

Park Hyung-sik said about his reunion with Park Shin-hye and others after 10 years, “I felt like I gained a thousand horses and a thousand horses. I felt like the ground became solid.” He continued, “11 years ago, I didn’t care about school uniforms, but now it’s different. So we supported each other,” and added, “There were definitely many moments when I could feel this sister’s inner strength. When I pressed the button, tears welled up and I was amazed to see them come out.”

“Doctor Slump” will premiere on the 27th.
