“Queen of Tears” surpassed a viewership rating of 20%, securing the second highest rating in tvN drama history.

According to Nielsen Korea on the 15th, the 12th episode of tvN weekend drama “Queen of Tears,” which aired on the 14th, recorded a nationwide average rating of 20.7% among paid households. This ranked it first in its time slot across all channels including terrestrial channels.

Additionally, “Queen of Tears” exceeded the 20.5% rating of tvN’s hit drama “Goblin,” starring Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun, and secured the second highest viewership rating in tvN history. The top spot is held by writer Park Ji-eun’s previous work “Crash Landing on You,” starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, which recorded a rating of 21.7% during its broadcast. “Queen of Tears” consists of a total of 16 episodes, with 4 episodes remaining, indicating the possibility of surpassing this record.

“Queen of Tears” is proving to be one of the most anticipated dramas of the year. Starting with a 5.9% rating on April 9th, it quickly surpassed 13.0% after just 4 episodes, and continued its strong performance with ratings of 14.1% in episode 6, 16.1% in episode 8, and 19.0% in episode 10.

The drama depicts the precarious married life of Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won), a third-generation chaebol of the Queens Group, who marries Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) and becomes part of a conglomerate family. In the 12th episode, viewers witnessed the character Hong Man-dae (played by Kim Kap-soo), suffering from vascular dementia, regaining his senses before ultimately taking his own life, alongside the portrayal of Hong Hae-in gradually losing her memory.

“Queen of Tears” airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 PM.
